Dokra/ Dhokra , a traditional art form, thrives in the states of Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh. This ancient craft, with roots dating back around 4,000 years in India, involves the lost-wax metal casting technique. Artisans create a clay core, apply beeswax for intricate designs, encase it with clay, and then heat it to eliminate the wax, leaving a mold for pouring molten metal. One of the earliest known artifacts crafted using this method is the renowned “Dancing girl” discovered during the Mohenjo-Daro excavation.

At Kangofied, we source these exquisite Dhokra artifacts from the Tribes of Kondagaon, Chhattisgarh, with the aim to contribute to their livelihood. Our vision is to showcase these hidden gems of India to the world and celebrate the rich cultural heritage and artistic prowess of the indigenous communities
